Terms of Service

Last updated: July 18, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the HG PC Techs website and our in-home tech coaching services. By using our website, contacting us, booking a visit, or purchasing a service, you agree to these Terms.

1. About HG PC Techs

HG PC Techs (“we,” “us,” or “our”), also known as “The Tech Coaches,” provides patient, in-home digital coaching and consumer tech support in Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Carpinteria, California. We help with everyday technology — such as phones, tablets, computers, video calling, internet/TV/printer setup, device cleanup, and scam-awareness coaching — in plain English and at your pace.

2. Who These Terms Cover

These Terms apply to:

  • Visitors to our website
  • People who contact us by form, phone, or email
  • Clients who book or receive in-home services
  • People who book services for a parent, grandparent, or other loved one

3. Our Services

Our services are educational coaching and consumer tech support. Unless we specifically agree otherwise in writing:

  • We teach and help you use your devices; we do not take over your accounts or act as your ongoing IT department.
  • You remain in control of your devices, passwords, and accounts.
  • We may leave personalized large-print notes or guides based on what we covered during a visit.
  • Service descriptions and prices on the website are informational; the final scope and price for your visit will be confirmed with you before work begins.

We currently serve Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Carpinteria. If you are nearby and unsure whether we cover your area, contact us and we will let you know.

4. Booking, Scheduling, and Cancellations

  • Submitting the contact form or reaching out by phone/email is a request to connect — it is not automatically a confirmed appointment.
  • We will contact you to confirm timing, location, and what you’d like help with.
  • Please provide accurate contact information so we can reach you.
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as you reasonably can — ideally at least 24 hours before the visit.
  • Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations may lead us to decline future bookings.

5. Pricing and Payment

  • We use simple flat-rate pricing for listed services. Current pricing appears on our Services page and may change over time.
  • Larger projects (such as big setups or device move-overs) may be quoted before we start.
  • Payment is collected in person or as otherwise agreed when you book.
  • Unless stated otherwise, payment is due at the time of service or as agreed when you book.

6. Your Responsibilities

To help us serve you safely and effectively, you agree to:

  • Provide truthful information about your devices and what you need help with
  • Be present (or have an authorized adult present) during in-home visits
  • Maintain backups of important files when possible before major changes
  • Keep ownership of and access to your accounts, passwords, and devices
  • Not ask us to help with illegal activity, unauthorized access to accounts, or bypassing security you do not own or control
  • Treat our team with the same respect we show you

7. Home Visits and Safety

We come as a team when possible and take trust seriously. Our team members are independently background-checked. We reserve the right to end a visit early if we encounter unsafe conditions, harassment, or requests we cannot ethically or legally fulfill. In that case, we will discuss any fair adjustment to fees based on work already completed.

8. Results and Limitations

Technology can be unpredictable. While we work carefully and patiently:

  • We cannot guarantee that every device issue can be fixed, or that every skill can be mastered in one visit
  • Software updates, internet outages, manufacturer changes, and prior device condition can affect outcomes
  • Advice and coaching are provided for educational and support purposes; they are not legal, financial, medical, or cybersecurity insurance advice
  • Scam-awareness coaching helps you recognize common warning signs, but no training can prevent every scam

9. Free Website Resources

Free guides and the scam safety quiz are provided as-is for general educational use. They are not a substitute for personalized in-home help. Downloadable files are for your personal, non-commercial use unless we give written permission otherwise.

10. Intellectual Property

The HG PC Techs name, logo, website content, guides, and materials we create are owned by us (or used with permission). You may use materials we give you for your personal reference. Please do not copy, republish, or sell our website content or branded materials without permission.

11. Website Use

You agree not to:

  • Misuse the contact form (including spam or false submissions)
  • Attempt to disrupt or break into the website or related systems
  • Use automated tools to scrape the site in a way that harms service for others
  • Impersonate another person when contacting us

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The website and free online resources are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement for website content and free resources. For paid services, we will perform the work with reasonable care and skill consistent with the coaching support described when you book.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by California law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • We are not responsible for lost data, lost profits, or device issues caused by pre-existing conditions, third-party software, internet providers, manufacturers, or events outside our reasonable control
  • Our total liability for any claim related to a specific visit or purchase will not exceed the amount you paid us for that visit or purchase

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed by law.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold HG PC Techs and its owners harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the website, your violation of these Terms, or your providing false information, except to the extent caused by our own willful misconduct.

15. Privacy

How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. If you continue to use the website or book services after an update, the revised Terms apply to that use.

17. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or our services will be handled in courts located in Santa Barbara County, California, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
